Probably same as Fortnite, which has long since introduced bots to its game, PUBG has made the same decision. Although at first it seems that fewer and fewer players are interested, the real reason is completely different. Namely, this add-on is only available for consoles, as it is said that new players are finding it increasingly difficult to spend a few minutes in a match without someone killing them, which is becoming increasingly frustrating. So with this addition, new players will encounter more bots initially until they gain experience, so as their skill improves, fewer bots will be in matches. Of course bots will be programmed so that they do not affect the composition of the game too much, nor will it have any advantages over real players.
What matters to some is that bots will not be present in Ranked matches, so no worries, if you are a serious player you will have no problem with bots.
