Back in 1994, exactly 25 years ago, the Sony PlayStation first appeared in stores across Japan, and today it is the most popular console in the world. In addition to being the most popular brand in the world, it is now officially listed as the most-sold home console brand in the world - ever! In total, over 450 million copies have been sold worldwide. The best-selling model was the PS2 - 155 million copies, followed by the PS4 with a total of 102.8 million (and still on sale). After the PS4 there is the PS1 with 102.5 million and the PS3 with 87.4 million units sold. On the first day of the sale On December 3, 1994, 100,000 consoles were sold!
Next year, the PlayStation 5 is coming, but as said, there are still plenty of plans for the PlayStation 4, as well as some great upcoming titles. What's your first PlayStation console?
